Everything you need to know about dental implants
A dental implant is used to replace missing teeth. It is an artificial root made from titanium or zirconia that is surgically implanted into the jawbone. The implant is then used to support a dental crown, bridge, or even denture. Dental implants provide a natural-looking and long-lasting solution to missing teeth. They also help to preserve bone structure and improve the stability and strength of the jawbone.
Benifits of Dental implants.
1. Long-lasting: With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime.
2. Natural looking: dental implants look and feel just like your natural teeth.
3. Improved speech: When you have missing teeth, you may find speaking clearly difficult. By replacing those gaps with a dental implant your speech will improve.
4. Comfortable : Dental implants are significantly more comfortable and discreet than removable dentures.
5. Easier to eat with: Dental implants function just like your natural teeth, allowing you to eat all of your favourite foods easily.
6. Improved self-esteem: Dental implants can give you back your smile and help improve your self-esteem and self-confidence.
7. Better for overall oral health: Because nearby teeth are not altered to support the implant as they would be for a dental bridge more of your natural teeth are left intact, improving long-term oral health.
What appointments are required?
1. Dental Implant Consultation: A consultation with one of our Dentists will provide a comprehensive evaluation of your oral health and overall goals. We will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of dental implants and discuss alternative treatment options. They may recommend a CT scan to check suitability for the treatment.
2. Implant Placement: After your consultation, we will create your treatment plan and book you an appointment with our Implantologist for the implant placement. During this procedure, the implant will be surgically placed into the jawbone. The procedure will be done under local anaesthetic and take approximately 1 hour.
3. Review. At your two-week implant review appointment, your dentist will review your implant to make sure it is healing correctly.
4. 3D Scan: Approximately 6 months after the implant is placed your dentist will take a 3d scan of your mouth using our revolutionary Trios intra-oral scanner, which will be sent to the laboratory who will start designing the implant crown.
4. Placement of Implant Crown: At this appointment the dentist will place your custom-made crown on the implant. This crown is designed to look, feel, and function like a natural tooth.
Aftercare of a dental implant.
Regular dental check-ups and dental hygiene appointments are important for the long-term success of the implant. The hygienist will check for signs of inflammation and infection, as well as clean the gums to maintain optimal oral health.
Dental Bone grafts.
A bone graft is a synthetic bone material which is used to add volume and density to areas in the jaw where bone loss has occurred. Bone grafting is not always essential when placing dental implants, but it can help to significantly improve the patient's chances of positive treatment outcomes.
Single unit implants.
A single unit implant is a dental implant used to replace a missing tooth. These implants are used to replace a missing tooth without the need to alter the adjacent teeth.
Multiple tooth implants .
Multiple tooth implants involve the placement of dental implants into the jawbone and a dental bridge is secured on top. The implants act like anchors to support the dental bridge.
All on Four Dental Implant Solution.
All-on-four dental implants is an implant-supported prosthetic that replaces the entire arch with a permanent bridge using only four dental implants. This type of treatment is ideal for anyone who has bone loss, as the procedure requires less bone grafting than traditional dental implants and can be completed in just one day.
Cost.
Implants start from £2750. We offer a range of finance options to help spread the cost of treatments into smaller monthly payments.
